Application Process and Procedures

We aim to instill in each student a set of attributes, skills and values that will enable them to make informed choices, be responsible and principled citizens, enjoy career success and achieve personal fulfillment.

ADMISSION PROCESS

General Information:

We welcome your interest in seeking admission for your children at Fraser Valley Elementary School. Admission to Fraser Valley Elementary School is selective and highly competitive and is based on a complete review of each student as a whole person.  If you have any additional questions, please contact our admissions office at (604)427.2282  

Admissions Procedures:

The process includes a review of all application documentation, family interview and a completed student entrance exam; we try to ensure that the student is suited for the level and style of education we offer. Please remember that completing an application does not guarantee acceptance.

Step 1- Complete an Application for Admission Form

The first step in the application process is the submission of a completed Application for Admission form with all accompanying documentation along with $100.00 application fee and $100.00 assessment fee. Once we have received a completed application form, and the application fees, we will process the application.

*Additional registration openings are available specifically for Grades 6 to 7. 

Canadian Citizens or Residents:  please return completed Application for Admission form with:

o  a recent photograph of the student – wallet sized

o  a copy of the student’s birth certificate

o a copy of the student’s most recent school reports/records

o a copy of a recent utility bill/rental agreement/tax statement – to verify the address

o a completed teacher evaluation form sent directly from student’s current school: 

o  a copy of the student’s immunization record 

o a copy of the students care care or health insurance

o  $100 application fee and $100 assessment fee  

International students: please return completed Application for Admission form with:

o  a recent photograph of the student

o  a copy of student visa and passport

o  a completed teacher evaluation form from student’s current school

o  a copy of the student’s most recent school reports/records in English

o  a completed teacher evaluation form from student’s current school in English

o  a copy of the student’s immunization record 

o  a copy of parents passport and working or student visa

o  a copy of medical insurance coverage

o  $100 application fee and $100 assessment fee

Step 2-Family Interview

All candidates and parents are required to attend an interview. You will be contacted directly by the principal or the administrative assistant to set up your appointment.  Students grade four and above will have an interview as part of their admissions process.  

Step 3-Entrance Exam

All applicants are required to attend an admissions assessment at Fraser Valley Elementary School (Approx. two hours in length). 

Step 4-Acceptance Letter

Admissions offers will be mailed within one week of your interview and entrance exam. 

Step 5-Decisions

Parents of new students have seven (7) days from receipt of the acceptance letter to notify the admissions office of their intent to enroll their child and to pay the $1000.00 placement fee. This will be applied to your tuition fee for the year, but is not refundable if you decide to cancel your enrolment for any reason at FVES.  Your placement fee guarantees a reserved spot for your child. We ask that parents read all tuition and fee materials very carefully.

We are now accepting applications for September 2018 — If your child was born in 2013, he/she should attend kindergarten in September 2018.
