Fraser Valley Elementary School is a non-denominational independent school in Langley, BC. Our aim is to provide students with a challenging academic education, emphasizing critical and compassionate thinking and a life-long love of learning. As an IB School, we are seeking candidates that support inquiry and conceptual based learning, all within a safe and comfortable classroom. FVES is a small school with a vibrant community—we seek candidates that value the professional and appropriate connections with students and their families and understand that every child matters.

Job Description Primary Teacher

  • Responsible for instruction of BC Ministry Curriculum,  with an emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics strategies
  • Embrace teaching through an inquiry approach
  • Utilize the Primary Years Programme (IB Candidate School)
  • Establish routines and classroom structure to maintain positive and safe learning climate
  • Assess students utilizing formative and summative assessment tasks
  • Participate in school activities such as the Spring Fete, Sports Day, End of Year Celebrations, Open Houses
  • Supervise students at break and DPA as per duty schedule
  • Communicate with parents and report academic performance in a timely manner
  • Assist in collaborative planning with primary team and PYP Coordinator

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Education with TRB membership
  • Reading/ Literacy specialty is an asset
  • Experience in Primary is an asset
  • Experience in IB or inquiry based learning is an asset
